Mysterious signs have recently been appearing throughout the halls of Lincoln. About 100 books are missing from the library. Please be on the lookout for them. If you find any Lincoln Elementary School library books please return them immediately. Thank you for your assistance.

May 11th-13th our students will participate in a Scholastic Book Fair, made possible through the generous donations from the Scripps Stations KIVI and KSAW, employees and viewers. Each student will be given the opportunity to choose five books for free, thanks to the Scripps Howard Fund’s, “If You Give a Child a Book,” campaign. We are so grateful for this opportunity. Thank you to those who made it possible.

Lincoln’s annual Battle of the Books was organized and hosted by Mrs. Emery, the school librarian. The audience was composed of fourth and fifth graders who watched selected 5th graders compete in the Battle of the Books. The participants answered questions about books that they had read during the school year. Mrs. Wilson’s class won the battle - congratulations to them. All the participants were awarded a 3-D, golden lion courtesy of Mr. and Mrs. Nickerson.

Lincoln had their last “PTOh, Baby” meeting of this school year. They had a surprise baby shower for the President of PTO. She was tickled pink. This organization worked hard and supported the students and staff throughout the year. They were a major asset in making Lincoln’s Engage in Education table shine, and they planned fun things for Teacher Appreciation Week. A special thanks to all of the families who sent in goodies for the Teacher Trail Mix. PTO's last event of the year will be their upcoming Block Party.

Teacher Appreciation Week!
The end of the year testing is a big deal. Our students worked super hard and had the support of teachers, classmates and local businesses. Mrs. Ruiz's kindergarten students crafted small notes of encouragement for each of the fifth graders. They even gave them a small treat to inspire them to do their best. La Fiesta provided a bucket of mints that all of the students received during their testing. And, holy cow, the Dairy Association provided adorable fidgets to help reduce testing anxiety. The PTO rounded up the support of both of these local businesses. We are so proud of our students and all that they have accomplished this year.

Happy Principal's Appreciation Day! We can't thank Mrs. McKenzie enough for all that she does for our staff, students, and their families. Lincoln wouldn't be Lincoln without her. Friday she was recognized with a banner and a gift basket. Both staff and students showed their appreciation by wearing their favorite hats. Hats off to you Mrs. McKenzie - you rock!
